K.G.C.E. (Fine Arts & Animation)
Approved Certificate Course | Duration : 2 years

Fine Art is created for aesthetic and intellectual purpose and is judged for it’s beauty, implied meanings and the feelings it conveys. Digital Art is visual art created for specific purpose that also can be judged for it’s beauty, meaning etc. Through this program, the students get exposed to various art forms like drawing, painting, sculpting etc, and can specialize in their choice of the medium .Parallel to this, they get to learn the digital technologies that could be applied in the creation of works of art in digital formats. Along with these hard skills, life skills and language skills are also imparted to raise their competitiveness.

Through this process, the student grows into an artist, empowered with the digital technologies having multiple capabilities, and strong portfolios of creative works. The programme is so molded as to enable the students to pursue their own individual artistic interests and thought processes. Apart from the professional knowledge and skills, the students would also develop the core values and skills required for being responsible citizens.

The students develop the skills in manual drawing and painting, thereby exploring the joyful search for self realization through creative works and becoming freelancers. Exposure to graphic designing enables them to deliver professional competencies in making digital illustrations, lettering, lay outs, and many such things of commercial value in the fields of designing and advertising. Animation skills will make them useful in new-gen communication projects. Their interpersonal skills will improve, and they will develop the core skills required in dealing with challenges in their personal and social life. Overall, the program will equip the student with the artistic, technical and emotional tools required for a successful career in Art as well as a life of contentment.

Duration /Medium of
Instruction & Eligibility For Admission
  • The K.G.C.E.’ Fine Arts & Animation’ is a Certificate Course having a duration of 2 years.
  • Medium of Instruction will be Malayalam for all subjects other than ‘English & Workplace Skills’, Graphic Design, And Digital Animation.
  • The candidate eligible for admission should have successfully completed the 10 th standard Examination conducted by the Board of Public Examinations Kerala State, or equivalent, recognized by the board of Public Examinations Kerala State with eligibility for higher education.
  • Admission shall be on merit from the rank list prepared by considering 50% weightage for the total marks obtained in the qualifying examination and 50% weightage for the marks secured in the in- house aptitude test.
Registration

Every student admitted to the programme shall register with the State Board of Technical Education Kerala, immediately after joining the programme. The registration will be valid for a maximum period of 5 years

Instructional Duration

The academic year shall consist of a minimum of 36 weeks of instruction including holidays coming in between and excluding the period of examination and study holidays,With 5 working days per week.

Attendance

A minimum of 80% of the instruction days in a year is a must for eligibility to attend the End of The Year examinations.

Examinations

will be in annual pattern with End of the Year Examinations conducted by the Board of Technical Examinations, Kerala for 60% of the marks of subjects other than ‘Fundamentals of Visual Arts’. For ‘Fundamentals of Visual Arts’, the Board Exam will be for 75% of the marks. The remaining percentages of marks will be decided by internal Exams. A candidate must score a minimum of 40% in the End of the year Examinations for both theory and practical subjects, and a combined 40% marks for the Board Exams and Internal Exams put together ,to secure a minimum grade for passing the course.
